Many healthcare professionals around the globe tout the importance of cleansing the body routinely of toxins. The health of our colon is of vital importance to our overall well being. What is important to note is that you can have control over the level of cleansing your body performs.
A rapid detox can be accomplished by simply altering your diet and taking in more nutritious foods. It is important to consult with a holistic health practitioner prior to embarking on a rapid detox program, however here are some guidelines that will assist in your detox program.
For rapid detox, one can start by performing a 3 day fast. During this period, you will drink only pure water. Rest your body during this time. While you are cleansing, it is important to create the right environment in which your body can purge and renew.

Pure water for the first 3 days of the rapid detox
At the completion of the 3 day water fast, you will transition into the next phase of the detox treatment. This is a 7 day fruit fast. During this phase, you will consume nothing but fruit for a total of one week. The proper way to practice this detox program is to eat one type of fruit per meal. This is called monotropic eating. For example, at breakfast, consume only melons. You can eat until you are satisfied, but limit your intake to eating only melons. For lunch, switch to only consuming citrus fruits. Prior to eating dinner, prepare a fresh carrot juice and consume it.
At dinner eat apples or pears until you are full. While performing an aggressive detox program such as this rapid detox, you will experience symptoms of detoxification. For example, during the treatment, you may feel lightheaded or nauseous. You may suffer from headache as well. These are uncomfortable detox symptoms, but they are perfectly normal as you are flushing toxins out of your body.

Melons for breakfast during phase 2 of the rapid detox
The third phase of this program follows the 7 day fruit fast. For one month, you will eat acid-bearing fruits (plums, oranges, apples, for example) at breakfast. You do not have to eat monotropically during this phase.
For lunch, consume fruits like bananas, mango, pears and grapes. In your lunch regime, include at least one half of a head of lettuce, a couple of celery sticks and some dried fruit such as apricots, raisins and figs.
At dinnertime, consume a big salad filled with lettuce and as many other raw vegetables that you wish to consume. As a dressing, add one that is olive-oil based and free of additives and sugar. Sprinkle some unsalted nuts such as cashews, almonds or sunflower seeds on top to add protein.
At the completion of the rapid detox program, you will feel energetic and renewed. Your bowels should regulate as well.
Moving forward, it is important to follow up this detox with a healthy diet rich in plenty of fresh, organic fruits, vegetables and whole grains.
Remember, prior to embarking on a rapid detox program, it is important to consult with your health care professional.
