When sebaceous glands clog and become infected, the inflammatory disease, acne, occurs. The formation of pimples caused by acne appear mostly on the face. Commonly, adolescents are affected by acne, although it can strike adults and infants alike.
The sebaceous (oil) glands develop around the time of puberty. They affect both girls and boys and are stimulated by male hormones secreted by the adrenal glands. When the sebum secreted by the sebaceous glands is close to the surface of the skin, they can block pores causing oil to build up underneath. This causes inflammation by stimulating bacteria. The tissue that surrounds the area becomes inflamed and produces pustules.
How Does Acne Develop?

When they are secreted close to the surface of the skin, oil (sebum) clogs the pores and results in build up underneath. This stimulates bacteria and causes inflammation. Pustules develop in the tissue that surrounds the affected areas.
Natural Acne Remedies and How to Use Them
Aloe Vera - Aloe is one of the most effective treatments against acne because of its anti-inflammatory and antibiotic properties. The most beneficial aloe is fresh aloe extracted directly from the plant. As close to the base of the plant as possible, cut off one of its leaves. Slice it open with a clean knife. Let the yellow latex liquid drain out of the leaf. Once it has finished draining, you can spoon out the gel that remains and apply it to your face directly. If possible, apply the aloe vera gel and let it sit overnight on your face. Do this daily until the problem has resolved.

Aloe Vera Gel is Very Effective Against Acne
Honey - Raw honey has antibacterial properties and is a wonderful cleanser. It can resolve minor blemishes that occur on the skin. However, you will not attain the same results using the processed version as most of the healing properties that are beneficial are removed during processing. Mild and safe to use, apply a raw honey mask to your face once or twice each week. Let the mask sit on your face for a minimum of 30 minutes and a maximum of an hour.
Rinse the mask off with cool water. With a clean cotton towel, pat dry.
Carrots - Sebum production can be diminished by the beta-carotene (vitamin A) present in carrots. Vitamin A can protect and repair the tissues that make up the mucous membranes of the skin. Consume carrots regularly for results. Freshly pressed vegetable juice that contains carrots is as effective as eating the whole carrot. The vitamins present in the vegetables are extracted into the resulting juice.
Garlic - Scarring from acne as well as the live acne inflammation can be cured by using fresh, raw garlic. Several times each day, rub raw minced garlic over the areas in need of treatment. For a jump start on the problem, for approximately one month consume 3 cloves of garlic each day. Its antibiotic properties will work to filter impurities out of the blood preventing and treating acne in the process. If you are not sure how to consume raw garlic, use it in fresh salad dressings and over pasta with some cold pressed extra virgin olive oil.
Lemon - Mix some rose water into fresh lemon juice and apply it directly to your face. This is very effective as a natural acne treatment. Let the mixture sit on your face for about 20 minutes. Rinse it off with cool water and pat dry with a fresh cotton towel.
Tea Tree Oil - Native to many areas in Australia, tea tree oil is extracted from the Melaleuca alternifoliais tree. It is effective because it contains terpenes, a bacteria fighting property. One drop on the affected area 2 to 3 times each time kills the bacteria that results in acne.
