
The acronym once used by raw-feeders to describe the meaty bones they fed to their dogs was BARF (bones and raw food). This term was introduced by Ian Billinghurst, an Australian veterinarian. The acronym took on a new meaning over time and was called "biologically appropriate raw food". Currently, most refer to this type of diet simply as "raw".
