When dealing with the issue of weight loss, there is no magic bullet, there is no magic cure. As much as we would all like to believe it, there is no pill that we can pop that will enable us to eat the foods that have caused us to become overweight in the first place, and lose weight. It just is not possible. It doesn’t even make sense!

The foods that are the offenders when it comes to health and weight loss are plentiful. The best diet plan eliminates these foods and requires a change to one’s lifestyle. As any nutritionist will tell you, the best diet is the one that is not a diet at all. It is a change to your lifestyle.

When I became aware of serious health issues last year, I knew I had to make some changes to my lifestyle. I could not maintain the lack of exercise and nutritionally deficient diet I was practicing and remain healthy. I needed to turn things around and find the best life diet for me. This is one that I could live with and grow accustomed to. I didn’t want to get into a situation where I was not able to maintain the new lifestyle I had undertaken. I happens so often that we make overly ambitious changes to our diets and then ultimately fail because they are not realistic over the long term.

I read quite a bit about nutrition and healthy eating. I came to the conclusion that there is no “simple” way to do this. I had to make a commitment and stick with it. After all, my health was at stake. I knew that I simply had to cut out certain foods and plump up other foods in my diet.

Namely, the best life diet for me to undertake in order to save myself would be to stick to the following:
• Cut out processed foods
• Cut out refined sugars
• Cut out dairy products
• Cut out most saturated fats
• Cut out meats (but not fish)

You may be asking, OK, then what CAN I eat? In the beginning, I felt that way too. And, I will say that it is not an easy undertaking, but I did it. I scoured recipe books and magazines dedicated to the Raw Food lifestyle. And, while I have come to understand that I cannot eat raw 100% of the time. I do incorporate many elements from a raw lifestyle. Those elements include eating pure foods – real foods and eating at least 50% each day of raw foods. This can be accomplished in the form of salads, fruits, juiced vegetables and smoothies. The other portion of my diet is vegan – no animal products. I found some great “replacement” recipes that have enabled me to duplicate many of my old favorites and coming up with new updated versions that are healthy for me and my family.

My new lifestyle is the best diet around. It works for me and has given me a new lease on life. If you are interested in checking out some of my favorite recipes, check out other portions of the site as well as my recipe site: www.mycheaphealthymeals.com.
